Well after looking at all the aftermarket towers out there and the price tags for a quality one I've decided to go a different route...as usual. Keep in mind the piece is not finished but here is what I started with. I will be replacing the original hpi aluminum bracket that holds the upper control arms in and making it and the IRC bracket bolt together. I'm hoping it will keep the forward flex at a minimum thus busting less gas tanks. I will update later with new picks after holes are drilled and some other details worked out... need some feedback guys😛epsi:

well that will do it. So I take it you'll be drilling that plate out to fit the shocks?. Thats not bad dude. good work.

Looking good I like when people make there own parts

I have some air plane quality alloy laying around at the shop its a 1/4 inch thick ... let me know if you need some ...

Complete

Well I this worked out really well and it was fairly simple too and I had fun intentionally jumping my truck and making it land on the rear end and that tower didn't budge. I think a nice piece of plastic would also work.

Nice mod, Blazer..
Is it heavey material? I might have to try that some time.
Keep us posted on how it holds up.
You get a rep for Inovation.

I Agree! Its Awsome To See People Make There Own Parts And Stuff Good Work! I'll Give A Rep Point As Well

Ahhh shucks doob that's sweet..nah it's just standard 6061. It's very close the the thickness of the stock hpi bracket it replaced, maybe a hair thicker. It worked well because I didn't have to bend it. The geometry from the top of the diff to the shock tower was very close. If you look at it from the side it's a perfect triangle from the plastic shock tower and the piece I made and then the bottom pins finish the triangle.:40:

Still... Well done, Blazer
I need the same mod. Both my towers are so bent that my Lid won't fit propperly. Which brings up this observation..

Keep our body on the truck so the towers will have less stress to hold back while the truck sits on the shelf.

That is until we do your mod.
Thanks Blazer

Hey Blazer X what did you use for the bottom their just removed the plastice spacer thing from the bulk heads and place your mod there. if so how thick is the plate of aluminum.?

I believe he said it was a tiny bit thicker that the aluminum A-arm pin spacer.

It didn't have an effect on the normal assembly

yea like doob said, I eliminated the original aluminum brace and replaced it with one large plate and attached to the IRC bracket. I don't have my mics at home but it's just a wee thicker than the factory brackets.

Drill a couple holes in it and it would make a nice wing mount plate too. When can I buy 2?

I'm not ready to start bragging yet because it hasn't seen dumb driving yet..but so far I like it. I have a cage much like savagecre and I'd like to integrate it into the fabbed up piece. I can make more of these plates but the problem is that everyones shocktower is tweeked different..I've made 4 already and I'm getting better. It's easier to make 10 side by side than it is 2 one at a time...I'm working on it oreagenmud and thanks for asking for a pair...that's a compliment..thanks
