Ok, I have ran rc electric cars, trucks, boats and planes. This is my first attempt at nitro. I just bought a Savage X (new) 2 days ago. I did exactly what the dvd and manual said to do. NO LUCK. I can get it to run but only if I open the idle needle all the way. Once it starts it crawls because it is idling to fast. If I try to back it down, it dies. The manual says they don't recommend touching the low needle so what the heck do I do? Sell and stick with electric?????? I don't want to. But I just thought being I have built a V8 and supercharged it, then this would be cake? I was wrong. Any help would be appreciative.

when i bought my F4.6 rtr i had a similar problem.

i set all my needles to factory and then turned the HSN in 1 full turn & the LSN maybe 1/4 turn.

they recommend "sloppy rich" settings for the needles at stock so new guys don't buy em & blow them up.

give it a shot caz you cant tune if you cant get it to run.

It worked!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! 🙂 🙂 Since you told me that, I came home from work, and ran through a half gallon of fuel. I now am not "scared" to adjust settings. I understand, and will post video soon. Any suggestions on "bang for the buck" hop UPS. A body is about to get airbrushed. So happy.

THANKS

Tim

Don't be afraid to play around with the needles. You won't truly enjoy a nitro til you trial and error and learn to tune, there are tons of writeups, guides and charts to help you out. The one thing I learned in tuning that will go a long way for a beginner is, The smallest turn on a needle will make a big impact, so take your time, listen to the engine when your tuning and you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Give it time you wont master a nitro engine over night (it might take you a engine or two) :lmao:
Iv ran nitro for 3 years and i still can''t get a perfect tune ill get a tune to where is rips but not the god sent tune =D

As Fred said go back to factory settings come in 1 full turn on the HSN and go from there ..
