Wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some audio/video clips of how an engine sounds when it needs to be tuned and when it is correctly tuned. I have read a lot of info on how to tune, but being a new n00b and never having spent time around nitro, I'm struggling to listen to my engine and interpret what it means. I read things about pulling a few wot passes and listening to how the rpm's drop to idle but I have no idea what a hanging idle, high idle or anything actually sounds. So basically I could write a paper on how to tune but I have no idea what anything actually sounds like. Any help is appreciated!

Bank, thanks for the link. I've checked that out and its pretty helpful. I can't hear the difference in sounds as much as I would like, but I also have bad hearing so maybe i'm just sol. I think I am looking for something that doesn't actually exsist. lol.

here is one of mine. The low speed is fat in the full vid but toward the end I put the HSN on the money. This mill is modded and has a SL more RPM then most 28's but you can listen for the root sounds in it. It will have a much higher tone at speed then stock mills can achieve so don't look for yours to scream like that caz its not timed to. Drops to idle fast and no pings and tings just smooth the liner sound that is what your listening for.

Also to keep in mind that is a 1 speed second gear tranny geared past a stock savage to take advantage of the extra power it makes. So you will hear no shifts as yours does.

i see two weird things about that first video. they're not using HPI fuel, and the guy is wearing gloves.
