I'm a new owner of a Savage 21 and so far so good!! I'm still learning the ins and outs of it but there is one issue I seem to have from time to time. When I am at full throttle and let off the gas, the engine doesn't seem to want to return to idle then all of the sudden it does. Any reason for this? Do I need to add a throttle return spring? If so, how?

Thanks
Scott

alot seem to rev up a bit just after letting off the throttle i know mine does it, so I'm interested to know what causes it myself.. maybe its just loading up with fuel? any insight is appreciated!!

I believe it is caused by being lean, however its been a while since I had this problem and can't remember weather its for sure lean or if its rich. Pretty sure it's lean and its the low end.

Do a pinch test. be between 1-2" from carb just after a nice run and back to idle. Then pinch the fuel line. It should only run for 2-3 seconds. RPMs should rise very slightly just before dying.

So if I richen the low speed, that may fix the issue? I thought I had it running perfectly. Would it matter if it was a bit cold out? I think it was around 40 degrees when I noticed it the first time.

Thanks

When you had it running perfectly was it wormer. If so you need to retina. Temps, humidity, altitudes all make a difference on how these motors run.
