Just received my Novarossi 28-7 that i'm installing into a Savage that came with the K4.6. I have an extended chasis to help stabilize the truck.

While installing the new engine, the drive shaft from the new engine is a tiny bit bigger than the factory K4.6. The clutch and the washer between the clutch no longer fits. What size and where can I order the correct washers and bearings. While I'm at it, should I change my stock gearing from 17/47 to something else? I'm on a 2 speed.

The nova has a sg shaft. Same type as the 4.6. It should have come with a new collet. The flywheel and clutch should fit no problem. Shimming may be different. Post a pic so i can see what youre talkibg about.

Silly me, forgot to remove the screw at the end of the crankshaft. All fits perfect.

Any recommendation on gearing I should go with for this engine and my setup? No racing, just bashing. Current 17/47

I ran 17/47 with my LRP30. Tried 18/47 and in the grass, it bogged a bit too much and overworked the clutch too hard. 17/47 was a good gearing for the engine/weight of the truck for the bashing I do. I'm running a 2 speed trans though. If you have a 3-speed, you can probably leverage an 18/47 without straining the clutch as hard. I think/thought it's 1st gear was a bit lower than the 2-speed version.

What clutch shoes are you running? If not alloy, you may want to get some.

I have the 2-speed with an aftermarket extended chasis. I also just installed some Mugen clutch shoes.

Did you have to flip your carb? I purchased a novarossi exhaust too and had to flip my carb, now the pressure valve is on the bottom of the exhaust, how is everyone getting around that?

Most engines come with the carb situated one way or the other and you have to rotate it to suit your needs. Sounds like the pipe you got wasn't for a right side placement, but rather for a left side like a 1/8th buggy.

I run a LST2 Losi HT pipe on my savage. I ground down the inner lip of the connector as it was a "one piece" type pipe that didn't use a coupler to the header. But the pressure nipple was on the top while the stinger came out of the bottom, so I didn't have an orientation issue in that regard.

I always found the savage pipe system lacking a bit in support in the middle. So, I always use a little L bracket made out of 3/8" round bar with a piece of silicone or rubber hose on it for the middle if the pipe to rest on so it doesn't beat up the exhaust gasket and coupler on big air jumps.
