hey, guys. This is my first post on the savage forum. I'm having issues with the FastLaneMachine Super-Hybrid bulk for savage. The quality of the machining looks great. FLM made these bulks specifically for buggy/truggy style diffs (they recommended Hot Bodies diff c8084-1 and Pinion c8030. i bought both).

the issue i'm having is this: the diffs fit perfectly with no friction, but the savage drive cups that i'm using need to be installed externally, making it almost impossible for me to insert/tighten the four screws needed to seal the diff properly as I have to split the diff in order to connect either side to the drive cups. the reason i needed to switch drive cups is that the ends of my stock savage dogbones are too wide in diameter to fit into the stock Hot Bodies cups.

does anybody have a strategy for solving this issue? advice?

maybe i'm just really drained from work and am not seeing something really obvious

these are the bulks:

thanks, guys. i'm really going nuts over here

unfortunately i don't own the FLM bulks so cant help but wanted to stop in to welcome u to the forum..But don't worry someone will be there to help shortly.. you will soon find out this is the most friendly and helpful savage forum on the net!!!

thanks for the warm welcome, guys! i'll take some photos in a few when my camera battery charges

as you can see in the third photo, the cup is wider than the hole, so i had to split the diff.

as you can see, the XL diff cups needed to be installed from the exterior of the diff casing, making it impossible for me to tighten any screws

those look really similar in size to the HPI ones, and my only concern is that they won't fit through the diff casing from the inside...

ok wait one sec, your new you must not know my skill level with the savage.. ill get you some pics

thanks, man. i'm not questioning your knowledge. FLM just didn't really supply any instructions or even tell me that i needed the drive cups.

You need the FLM cups for the SHD bones . Call FLM tomorrow. Tell them I sent you there, from here. Tell her you need the cups to work with it. She will invoice your paypal and get them in the mail to yea ... Done .. No you cant use HPI SHD cups and you cant use HPI reg cups with the bones you have. That will get yea fixed up right...

can't wait for those FLM cups! calling tomorrow first thing.

Bnk to the rescue! +Rep!
One thing to keep in mind when building these trucks is weight. Something i should have paid more meticulous time on....

Lots of peolpe here happy to help!! Welcome!

well, when it comes to my flux, i'm not too concerned with weight. it's more my shelf queen project. my XL and my mugen truggy are my racers 🙂

called FLM, she didn't pick up, so i left her a message with my name and number. hopefully she calls back *crosses fingers*. should i just go ahead and order the drivecups from their site or should i still talk to her first to make sure that i get EVERYTHING i need this time?

i LOVE my TCS TVPs! i use greased lightning to deannodize. has worked pretty well in the past and i can buy it at lowes.

UPDATE ON THE FLM ISSUE: i called them and spoke to Jamie, and he told me what was told to me in this thread, so i ordered two sets of the drive cups from FLM.

my only remaining question is this: FLM recommended that I use the hot bodies diff with this pinion (http://www.southwatercycles.com/products.php?plid=m56b0s779p35138). I bought the pinion, but it just occured to me that I don't have any outdrives. which ones should i buy?

thanks, guys
Dan
