Just got from Tower a set of 1/2" offset 17mm beadlock and some HPI dirt claws.

I looked around maximizer's site, checked this forum but I don't find some detailed (maybe video) instructions on how to mount. The video on the maximizer's web site is down, is it working or do I have problems?

And about the shims: Maximizer says that "Ring Shims are included for use with thin bead tires such as HPI Dirt Claw. How do I put the shims and on what side?

Can anyone tell me or point out a video or other instructions? Thanks a lot.

Yes I know. That one doesn't load. I ckick on it and nothing. You can see it? Thanks.

Looks like the link is broken. I am also having an issue running the video. But I am also running under really secure settings on firefox. so that might be another thing to look at. It is getting launched by a Javascript, so if you have your web browser set to not run javascripts then take a look at your settings.

So, sorry for keeping asking you..

I dis as follows:
- put on the shim on the rings, as shown in the pic, with the rounded end facing the ring. did this on all 8 rings.
- put the rings inside the tire, then insert the tube from the rear end.
- then tried to attch in the same way the face plate. But I don't seem to manage to align the screw holes.

Question 1: how is supposed to insert the face plate. I find that the diameter of the tire is smaller than the diameter of the ring/faceplate, and keeps jamming. Thus, the faceplate isn't touching easuly the tube.
Question 2: The faceplate should touch with ease the tube, and then install the screws? or...

Sorry, thanks for your attention and answers. If someone can tell me if the video on maximizer site is working, or find another alternative link, I'd be most grateful..

Thanks

you have to work the bead into the lip as you put the screws in, get one started, and put one on the direct opposite side, as you get the screws started, pull on the tire outwards to seat the bead in that area, but be careful not to pull the bead past the ring...frequently turn the rim over and look to see how much of the ring in compressed down, and tighten accordingly in a x patern...its takes some practice to get down, after i got two done the last two were cake...

OK. But should all the plastic pieces inside the tire touch , I mean that I tighten the screws until the faceplate should touch the tube and the 2 rings should touch eachother? Because I managed last night to addemble 1 tire, but I don't know how tight to screw...

LE. Do I need to put the shim on the rings for the dirtclaws or no?

:duh: sorry about that kat, you said that in your 1st post. it doesnt work on my home computer either for some reason (firefox maybe)

pm visionary, he just installed them & asked me about the 'lining up' issue. told him not to use the rings & he was done with all 4 in 10 minutes.

i didnt use the rings with my zombies & installation was a breeze

yes the faceplate should be flush with the tube, and don't overtighten, you will strip out the holes, tighten just enough, youll feel it!!!!

I don't think I used the rings on the dirt claws. They have a beefy inner lip. You will have alot of problem trying to use those rings with that tire. The rings are intended for a very thin bead area on the lip.

So, I managed last night to put together one tire.I left both shims on each tire, as they said on their web page. Was a bit hard, but I managed to align the faceplate to the holes.

I have a few questions regarding how tight should be. I attached a few photos and outlined the area where to look. So, I tighten the screws until the inner face of the faceplate was flush with the inner lip of the margin of the tube (just before the little protuberances of the screw holes begin).

Is is too tight?

Well, I read what they say on their web site and kept both shims. Was a bit harder to aligh the faceplate, but it worked. Hope it's not too tight.

Final question: I see the rims are not vented. They say to vent the tires, not the rims. Do I need to do that, or can I leave the wheels unvented. And if the wheels must be vented, should I drill 2 holes in each rim rather then cut the tires?

Thanks

1. i tightened mine very tight, & took it to the point where i felt any tighter would strip the plastic threads in the rim. haven't had a problem.

2. ive seen posts about peeps venting their rims &/or tires. i haven't vented either & haven't had ne problems. imo, run them without venting & see how you like it & then try the venting l8r if you wanna try something new.

your rims & tires look sweet, give a review of how you like those tires.

k. I will. If it doesn't rain in the we, i'll go and test a little. Looks ok with one wheel mounted, hope the 1/2" offset will improve stability

they look good to me...the one pic you have of the closeup of the inside, i can see some darkness where you could use a little more tightness on the screws...like Frddyj said, tighten them till you feel like you might strip the holes out then stop, you will be surprised how tight you can go, and make sure you tighten them in an X pattern till all are good and tight!!!

OK. Anyway, hope to have god weather tomorrow for some testing... Will come back with a review.. Thanks

the only thing i could say about the foams would be to get the proline molded foams for 1/8 scale MT tires, they work pretty good and help with the ballooning of the tires...and the 1/2 inch offset with the maximizers help great in stability on turns when on the throttle...the only thing i noticed is that i lost some steering radius with the wider offset...
