Mornin all,
After a long running arguement with my current tank guard (which split at the weekend),i decided i would have a go at making my own.So i ordered some 2mm aluminium off of ebay and got going!
The aluminium:

The cut & the template:

Cut out & shaped:

Drilled & finished(one of the holes wasnt straight, had to make it bigger):

After bending the metal, its fitted & awaiting testing! :

This was the first one i have made, ive still got to refine the design alot.Only took a couple of hours to make by hand, cant wait to get out there to give it some abuse 🙂

awesome, looks nice. did you check to see the weight difference between yours and the factory made protector. i'm interested to see which weighs more
Good point, didnt even occur to me.Ive just weighed it compared to the old one.Well, what can i say, heavy is strong! It weighs 49.1g compared to the old one which weighed 34.5g(1.4mm).This was the first attempt, still might shave the some more off it(should save a couple of grams),but I'm thinking i might just make another one 🙂

Nice work man, that thing looks like a empty billboard waiting for some Savage Forum stickers!
The more i look at it,the emptier it looks,it definately needs something to brighten it up 🙂.

Looks great , Nice and clean ,

But you need support on the rear (most tank problems happen in the rear of the tank) because the shock tower flex and the shock puts a hole in it ..

I forgot about that.It happened to me about a month ago.I thought it was because i had fitted the nut & bolt the wrong way(had them facing into the car).I will include a plate on the back on the next one, thanks for the suggestion 🙂.
