Hey guys, quick question. I just want to confirm my suspicions here. My K4.6 in my Savage 25 chassis just won't pick up the front end. It idles nice, runs smooth and has good acceleration, just not the "punch" from a standing start.

Since you have to punch it full throttle normally for wheelie type acceleration, I'm assuming I should try leaning the HSN first? My slipper is nice and snug and not slipping. The engine does not over-rev when trying to accelerate, it just seems to be lacking a bit of punch. The front end gets light, and sometimes the R/F tire just comes off the ground a little, but that's about it.

+1 tune it up. Whats the gearing?

Oh ya! Hadn't thought about that. If I counted correctly it's a 15/47. Is that good enough for wheelie torque?

edit: I just read the gear chart sticky and I now realise that this 15/47 combo is still the stock gearing from my 4.1 engine. This isn't even on the chart for the 4.6. It shows a lowest ratio of 17/47.

Should I adjust tuning or gearing first?

tune it first, lean out the lsn a little bit. With that gearing you should be pulling the front end up with no problems.

Is it shifting into second like it should as you accelerate?

Ya, it's shifting nicely although my 3rd gear was a bit early. I just made an adjustment for that.

Should I lean out the LSN or the HSN. Doesn't the LSN get bypassed the second I hammer the throttle?

Ok. So I adjusted all 3 needles actually. 1 at a time though. I leaned out the LSN 1/8, the mid 1/4(it was at stock) and the HSN about 1/2 turn past the mark on the neck. Crazy difference. Thanks guys.

Yeah just the outside. You should not have to mess with it at all. On mine, i turned it in 1/2 turn from flush then sealed it up.
