Recently bought a HPI Savage x4.6 RTR just wondering what hop ups everyone reccomends in order of importance?

Thanks

The first thing most people do is tires. Then gears because of the larger tires. Then steel gears because the larger tires cause more loads on the drivetrain. Then the slipper clutch fails unless you tighten it all the way down. All the way. A wheelie bar. A more powerful engine. Skid plates are good depending on how and where you run.

There is loads of info here. Browse away.

I would put on the RPM center skid for sure to keep crap outta the brakes and the roll cage and wheelie bar...
I built my rig outta a basket of parts I got from a member here and so far it seems to take all the pounding i give it and come back for more.....

Be aware there are 2 different "BP" diffs also. a 29/9 with very coarse teeth on the gears and a 43/13 set with finer teeth, mine has the sintered 43/13 diffs and I have no trouble with them so far, (knock on wood) 😀

Also there is a BIG difference between "sintered" where the metal is pressed into shape from a powdered formula and "machined" which are machined from bar stock and then hardened, the best ones being the machined ones due to greater strength... I have the sintered 43/13 standard gears in my differentials and with several tanks I have not broken one......

The 43/13 diff are HD diff gears.
BP are the 29/9.

The HD ones lasted only 1 and a half tank on me in a previous Savage I owned.
I changed to the hotbodies spiral cut gears and they lasted 10 tanks.
All correctly shimmed and meshed.

I was about to try the CEN gears but couldn't find them for a good price so I sold my Savage.
And a couple years later the BP gears from HPI came out so I bought myself another Savage. 😉

As for recommendations, throttle linkage mod, steering bearings, better steering servo and HD servo saver if not yet there.

Something else not mentioned. A good hump battery pack for the receiver is a must if you don't already have one. 6V, 1600mAh or greater.

I think theres a top 5 mods on here that x stared somewhere......

anyway, id have to say hump pack, steering servo,(200oz) throttle servo(150oz) steering bearings, robinson racing spur gear and clutch bell, and aluminum clutch shoes.

I personally have no problem with the stock tires.
