I have a couple HPI savages and an e-savage and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a way to help prevent flipping over especially on turns. I am using a transmitter and receiver that has ABS and that helps some, but I just noticed that it also has a S.V.C which uses a gyro in the receiver to adjust the steering and throttle and wondering if anyone has had any luck setting that up to help prevent rollovers. It wasn't a big deal when I first got the trucks but now that I'm older and have a back injury it's getting harder to chase them to flip them back over, and I find that I don't drive them much anymore because of this.

Slow down in turns works pretty well. they are after all a high CG vehicle, or take a kid with you when running it and send them out to marshal the truck in the event of rolling over......

Yeah, I figured that part out about 15 years ago but I'm hoping I can figure out a better way since there is better technology now.
And I take my grandson with me, and he chases them for me but sometimes I want to go when he's not around.

Without shelling out loads of money I would fit a sway bar & see if that helps! 👍🏻

I'm not a fan of electronic driving aids for RC cars, but I get why people may find them helpful. Part of the fun of driving is managing rigs that are a 'bit of a handful' - which is the essence, the very front and centre of MT's! 😝
Low CoG chassis TVPs, lower engine position, longer wheel base can radically Truggify your Savage for racing. Or purely for more manageable handling - you decide!
Don't underestimate the wheels and tyres. Low profile tyres will offer far greater handling and consistency, but you need to gear accordingly.
Big, wibbly-wobbly tyres are fun, but they make it more likely to roll over.
Sensible ride height.
Correct preload and spring rates make a big difference, along with damping, which can be used to hone the rig's balance to much more manageable levels.
My rig started off like this:
Fun as it was, it needed modifications to enable it to race against sensibly against Revos, Tmaxxs and MGTs.
It's a great rig. Let us know how you get on!

What Horatio said is all true. I’ve also looked at the sway bar option, and it can work, but honestly, the easiest, most effective, and quickest way to fix your Savage's rollover problem is to widen the wheel stance.
I’ve found that the easiest way to do this is by fitting offset wheels. HPI makes a set of offset wheels with spongy tires, which helps, but unfortunately, they’re still prone to rollover when running on hard surfaces like tar.
I also ran a set of HPI Bronco-style wheels, which have a very low profile and minimal tire roll. With those, you can literally slide your truck around like a drift car.
Another option is to fit wider offset hubs—you can find those on platforms like eBay and AliExpress.

I found the sway bar upgrade made a huge difference with my savage but do agree Horatio making the Savage wider will help things also, you have gained another subscriber! 👍🏻

Very nice trucks! You have some excellent suggestions I will give it a try and post the results. I've been thinking about 3D printing some offset rims to test with to hopefully find the right combination, I just need to get it moved up on my to do list.
