If smoke has come out of your ESC then it may already be damaged. You should contact HPI and see if they'll give you a new one.
That being said, you can reduce the heat output of the motor and ESC by going to a smaller pinion/larger spur combo. This is especially important on 6S.

Thank you for reply I have 44/20 gears what would you recommend for gearing ! I
Have got in touch I have to send back to be tested I've had this for 2 months now paid good money for 2 3 s batterys had hobby wing esc 150 a same thing happened cut out got no mor then 10 min savage is almost brand new
