Hey everyone. Haven't been around in a bit, but I just converted to the HPI steel spur gear (hpi 77127) Anyone else running this? In the pack came the gear and flash plate but no bearing? Does this need one or do I slap it on? Cheers!

Well since I don't like mine to slip too much I would just use a brass insert like the plastic spurs use if there is a place for it to go.

yup...no bearing ....the center is hex shaped...make sure you thread lock the the six screws....mine came loose....

I forgot to ask.. How do u guys like the steel gear? I have no problem with messing its always perfect. But the life.... Solid? Cheers!

I have been using the same spur (plastic) for 4 gallons now. If you set your mesh and nothing gets loose, bent or stuck in the teeth than the plastic ones last forever.
I think he might be referring to the screws that hold the gear together. Does yours look like this?
