How to properly fill big bores

Been looking, just wondering what is the propper procedure for filling big bores with oil? Just fill and let them sit upright for a while to let the air bubbles rise? First time and brand new big bores, so don't want to F them up!

I have this thing i bought at harbor freight called "helpful hands" Has to alligator clips on each side and i clamp the shafts onto the clips.. full it all the way up.. Push shaft up and few times watch the oil level lower.. then refill till it doesn't do it anymore. Then yes let sit and wait for all the bubbles to be gone.

So I'm assuming they need to be finally topped off with oil with the shaft fully compressed, correct?
