Last weekend my seal on the bottom of my rear diff was compromised so now I'm going to change out all the grease.

My question is, how much grease do I put in? How do I know when enough is enough? Is it possible to have too much?

If your talking about the grease inside the Diff the aluminum cup then fill it up. You should get some diff oil like 10K or something.

Now if you are talking about inside the bulkhead. they are never sealed up completely stuff always gets inside this. You are OK so long as its small stuff but it should be cleaned out once in a while. As far as grease there goes I just put a little on the ring gear to inhibit wear and smooth meshing. Not a lot needed.

I use wheel bearing grease to coat the outside of the diff around the ring gear. You only need to put enough in there so the ring and pinion are coated.
