I just came back from a camping trip, with my brother in law, and his brother. My brother in law just bought a used Savage 25 just like mine, and his brother bought a Redcat Landslide. We beat the living snot out of our trucks, jumping them from any cliff we could find. I was pretty surprised at the climbing ability of the Savage. It scaled some hills really well, before we jumped it off the hill. The best part about it was we came away with almost no casualties. My brother in law lost a lug nut, but that was about it, except that I really thrashed my body.

I suck at painting bodies, so I don't really like doing it, so I was wondering how often you all go through your bodies? I kind of don't want to try and do a nice paint job, when 2 or 3 weeks later, it's gonna be all torn to shreds.

By the way, that Redcat Landslide did pretty well too. It's very quick (faster than our stock 25's), and handled the beating well. I was impressed.

well the stock bodies are thin ... they shred fast ... but the thicker lids are better I'm running a bug body and a herse body the both are realy thick i beat my trucks up. and they have held up really well.

I use shoe goo in the weak spots like cab coners and around the back. I'm not the greatest of painter either. I stick with black and don't worry about how it looks cause its just going to get trashed anyways right? why spend all that time and effort on a nice paint job. I have had my savage for about 5 years now and just getting the 3rd body ready for paint and I run on pavement more than dirt but i do JUMP mine at my local BMX track.

I have 3 bodies including the one it came with ones Proline F250 body. Which is my bashed body. Front is already cracked.. The other is crowd pleaser for when I go 2 the track. Soon tho I will be painting a third body which will be just for show. When my truck is parked or sitting that's the body have on it lol kinda lame, but I think it will look
Cool sitting with a perfect body when not getting beat on. It's the least I can do for my savage.

OK good, so body's don't last too long when you're thrashin' on it. Good to know, I'll probably just hit some new ones with a single color, and shred it, until I can't repair it.

Maximus, that graverobberbody is too cool. I may have to get one of those. Nice work.

ikesavage, good suggestion, I'll just hit the body with a single color, and call it a day. Bodies look kinda cool beat up anyway!

wildchild, I like the rivets, good idea, but I don't have a rivet gun.

Thanks guys.

my lids last about 5 or so tanks
I have to agree, If I can get off the pavemant and stay in the dirt they last a while. It all depends on your driving styles. My body from the world finals 09 for my Flux is almost destroyed. But I have been hard on the flux after seeing what was done during the cage match(I wanted to see it mine could hold up to that abuse) and I can tell you the truck has but the body has not!
Go out and enjoy. If you tear it up go and buy another one. I like the idea of one can paint jobs. I spend hours on mine and minutes tearing them up. :jamout:

when you trim the body never ever never never trim an area and leave a sharp corner. If you leave a sharp corner, then that's where it will start to crack.

For the air hole in the front window.... I drill four holes in the windshield. I then use a razor blade to score the lexan. Then you can fold the lexan and it will break along the score line. Now you have a nice large air hole with rounded corners. If you cut an air hole with sharp corners, then it will crack during the first outing.

Cracks eventually happen. If you start the get one, then drill a small hole at the end of it. It will stop it for a while.

Jon.
