I am wanting to know how I can find out if I need to rebuild my K4.6. Does anyone make a compession gage anymore. Or is there another way to find out?

how many gallons do you have through it? are you seeing a significant lack in performance now than when you first got it?

PINCH, you can tell if an engine is getting bad by the pinch. If you can turn the motor over freely with the shaft no flywheel fairly easily, Its close to junk.

The best way is take it apart and pull piston/rod and sleeve. Slide the piston in the sleeve from the bottom. It should stop tord the top of the sleeve. It should take a bit of force to get it further (Don't push thru) you could stretch the sleeve and wreck it.The problem wit this is if you haven't done this with a newer motor you have no clue what kind of pressures they have.

Another is if it just don't run its toast. Hope this makes a bit of since. I'm sure there is other ways as well but this is how I check mine.

I am going on the 3rd gallon and I had the o-ring missing from the hsn and didnt know it got that fixed and now it seems slugish and not as zippy as before. Also I switched fuel from blue thunder 20% that was way overheating the motor like 350* and I went with odonnell 20% and it is running cooler and I didnt adjust any settings I leaned it out some.

With the new o-ring installed you are probably running richer because the missing o-ring could have been allow excess air to enter the motor. With it sealed properly the motor should be easier to tune and will stay cooler because you removed an air leak. With this being the case you are more than likely rich and will have to lean it out. It could be the exact opposite as well. If you have pinch it's probably in the tunning. Check your glow plug as well.
