I just ran across these shocks made by Hot Bodies, from what I can tell it looks like they are made specificly for the savage. Has anyone tried these, the price isn't bad. they also have a rebuild kit for the shocks.

I noticed HB makes several shock set s for the savage, and a few other parts, if you look towards the bottom of this page they are listed, I know HPI just bought or merged with HB but I didn't know HB made parts for the savy. (other than the truckzilla stuff)

I had them, there actually pretty crap. Your better off putting your money towards some decent HPI Threaded shocks or LST shocks...

Thanks,

I have the HPI threaded shocks, I might go with them again for my other truck but would kind of like to try something different.

I like the LST shocks but I really like having 8 shocks, I know some people use 8 of the LST or LST size shocks but that really gets pricey.

Do the LST size shocks have the same travel as the HPI stock shocks? or are they shorter?

thanks

No idea, I have some IRC ones on the way. The only reason I really got them is cause they were 2nd hand, no way I would pay the amount there charging new!!
I ended up paying $140 with mounts and 3 sets of springs, which normally would have been USD$240!!!
They seem to beef the truck up a bit higher, so I'm assuming they are about the same length, but about 5 times as wide as the stock ones

The LST shock have the same stroke at stock HPI.

i have never used the hot bodies shocks, but their cv's are working well for me. i am surprised that they have been refered too as junk. i may be wrong but i thought hot bodies was a higher end divison of hpi. kinda like jammin is to ofna. in other words i would fiqure the hot bodies are the same as hpi's just rebranded. imho.

The shocks are really bad, I had a set and got rid of them straight away and went back to stock. They bend really easily and get dirty really easily and the finish on the shock comes off after a few runs.

I'm going to go with the Integy Super Duty Piggyback shocks. Hopefully I'm not wasting my money.

I would start a thread on this if i were you before I buy, that way there's more of a chance of someone who had used those shocks seeing your post and you can get their opinion about them. I have integy;'s piggy back's on my stock shocks and they leak. I don't know about the ones your looking at.

darn wister, don't tell me yours are leakin. i just bought the integy mrs 5 heavy dutys. lhs went out of business just before x-mas so i stuffed my own stocking. lol

No No, not the MRS5's, the piggy back's that are made for the stock savage shocks. actually its never been low enough to have to add oil, but there is oil on the body of the shocks that comes back when cleaned, I may have overfilled them, plus there was a little foam insert I never installed, I think they go in the piggyback part, but wasn't sure cause no instructions.

I have a question about the MRS5's, I was thinking about trying them, are they larger diameter shock body's than the stock shocks? someone here mentioned on the mrs8's that the stock springs wont fit over the body cause it is too wide. I was hoping the same was true for the msr5's. I know the shaft is 3.5mm instead of 3mm, but haven't seen the dia of the body anywhere.

i have those shocks, there an old design and are junk, i bent them several times, just went back to the stock shocks, integy makes some good shocks for the savage
