Greetings, nipped out earlier and made a temporary tank guard to use until i can justify buying one to the wife. This took about 15 minutes to make from start to finish and can be trimmed and painted to preference after, but the best bit is that it weighs next to nothing and can remain there even underneath a hop-up tank guard strengthening it even mor...nice!!
The materials you need are an old nitro fuel container and some sticky back foam.

Now you need to cut the container at the bottom. Alter the size depending on how much of the fuel tank that you want to cover.

Cut the foam to cover the tank.

Place the tank secyrely on an object that can withstand great heat and in a safe vented area.

Place the bottom of the container on top as symmetrical as possible and heat it with a blow torchfrom a small distance so you do not scorch the plastic. I found it easy to concentrate on a small area at a time...can be reheated if necessary.

The plastic will become almost transparent when it is most pliable, you can see the difference between the solid white plastic and the pliable dark plastic.

Use a heat proof glove to manipulate the plastic carefully.

The plastic will return to its original white finish which is ideal for trimming and painting.

The plastic solidifies and with the foam underneath makes for a very hard cushioned shell, very light and thin enough to go under any hop-up guard.

If this can give someone an idea to make something useful for there truck then that alone will complete this exercise. I have used this guard now for several tanks and it is still going strong. Tell me the truth, what da ya think...i can take it
