Home made skid plate for FLM

Hi all,

Here is a skid plate that i am working on,
Any further ideas?

why is everything exposed with holes and slots

My opinion for a skid plate is that it also reduces the amount of dirt and exhaust oil from getting on the brake disk pads. Not being critical, just an observation :resp:.

I made one out of a piece of lexan<--SP . But I also don't think the holes are a good idea. The tranny gets hit allot with the FLMs

I find with my FLM skid plate that rocks end up on top of it and then they destroy my disc brakes. To me holes are a good idea. I am considering putting holes in mine so the rocks fall through.

Looks great! But as mentioned, the open brakes is questionable.

For the holes i was thinking:

1e: stones/rocks drop through the holes !!!
2e: keeps weight down
3e: tranny is almost at the bottom from my FLM

I think the best way to find out if it works will be to bash test it.

u need to protect the disks and tranny like a pop out or something to extend out to procte the brake disks

i know with my rpm center skid plate when i take it off its always covered in sand and little rocks so maybe the holes would allow the sand and debris to just fall out, but then again with the holes more crud will get in so I'm on the fence so to speak with this one but a++ for effort my friend and please keep us posted on how it works out for you!!

with my rpm skid (no holes) it stays pretty clean in there.

The biggest thing I like is the fuel oil stays out of there

I have never had any trouble with my Integy center skid plate. There is space where rocks and dirt can fall out of it, but still protects what it needs to. And it's taken some serious abuse.

wow mine had alot of oily dirt stuck to it, but i still love it and feel a heck of alot more secure using a skid plate!! it was probabally because of running it in deep sand!! lol

very professionally done and looks great imo. Now you need to take it through the sand, small rocks and anything else you have available and report back with your findings; maybe bash a few tanks & then pull the plate off & take a pick. as far as workmanship & aesthetics, you should be proud of it. what did you make it out of?

do you use a exhaust deflector? that helps shoot it down at the ground
