I tried my first port and polish job last night. I cut too deep into the sleeve on both intake ports at the bottom edge into the chrome lining on the inside of the sleeve. This caused me to have to enlarge the intake port on the bottom to fix it. In you opinions is this sleeve ruined.

I,m not sure its ruined all you can do is try it. Just make sure that there is absolutely no Burr or edge on the inside of the sleeve or it will tear your piston up fast.

No, not on the bottom side of the port. All timing is done from the top side of the ports. If you still have it apart you can take the "clean" piston and sleeve and run the piston into the sleeve, if it is not smooth or seems like it's scraping, you will have to clean up the port some more. Depending on how you cut it, the chrome may have flaired out and may look smooth, but it can still catch on the piston face. Worst case is the piston on the down stroke may catch that edge as well causing it to chip or part of the skirt may break off, unfortunatly the engine will probably be blown before you realise this. Word to the wise, if you can't go to the garbage can, drop your engine in it and walk away, don't touch the chrome. Better luck next time.

Thanks, I am feeling experimental it is more fun to me to try to port and polish my engine than to just go and by that lrp spec .28 that I'm drooling over. If i mess up I will then truly have an excuse to buy it. If it works out my freinds will be busting their heads trying to find out why my savage is beating up on their t-maxxes and revos.
