Help needed with XL Outdrive CVD/Universal possibilities

Hey guys, I need an opinion here. I want to go to CVDs on my drive axles and have been having a real tough time finding something that will fit a Savage XL. I just stumbled on this and was looking for a second opinion/better suggestion.

I know with these, the center shafts will not be long enough for the XL and would be tossed in a drawer somewhere. But the outdrive assy looks pretty decent. They say they are CVDs, I say universals..... Semantics I guess.

As well, I am considering these options:
TITANIUM UNIVERSAL AXLES 1 PAIR BY GPM RACING
MIP SAVAGE SHINY CVD KIT

With all of these, I know I will lose the additional width afforded by the stock axle shafts. But I already have a set of Ofna 15mm wheel-hub extensions that I can use if I determine that I can't live with a narrower truck.
So, can anyone suggest the ultimately best solution? Quality and durability takes priority over cost for me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You know, the more I research, the more I tend to agree with you. I ordered the HPI axles (86393) a couple of says ago that will keep the dogbones stock, but allow me to use the Ofna 17mm wheel hub adapters.
Funny, but it was an effort to eliminate the silly little stock wheel nuts and convert to the 17mm that took me off on this wild tangent.
