As per the title,

I dropped my car, a HPI Savage X 4.6 to the floor from about knee height and noticed an orange rubber band next to it when I went to start it.

I know the part to be: 6898 - SILICONE O-RING P31
https://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/6898

Where could it have come from? I’ve looked over the exploded views of the car but can’t find it anywhere.

I’m running in a new engine (Lrp .32) and had it running about at half throttle for a tank before taking it into my garage, dropping it from knee height then noticing the band so it may have come off before the first run.

Any help is massively appreciated.

edit:
On page 14 of this hpi document it’s a exhaust gasket for a savage 25:
https://www.hpiracing.com/assets/pdfs/parts_id_booklet/92030.pdf

I got my savage x 4.6 second hand and with an aftermarket exhaust so it doesn’t need one of those gaskets.

could it be that it was just lose in my truck and it’s fallen out? I’ve driven it for a total of around 2 hours prior to fitting the new engine and only about 5 tanks into running in the new engine. Or are they also used else where.

Thanks, Dale

No, I did think that after seeing online that there was a gasket in there so I checked but that one is in situ. Also the one that fell off was larger.
I took it for a steady drive and the car didn’t act any different so I’m going to assume it was just lose somewhere in the car.
I also managed to find a standard exhaust for the savage 25 that was sold with 3 similar gaskets so it may have fallen off when the previous owner swapped it for an aftermarket exhaust.

thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it

Could it come from one of the shocks ?
Nope, to put its size into perspective it’s about the size of a UK £2 coin or a milk bottle lid.
Thanks for the suggestion though 🙂
I’m going to be taking it over the field today and do the last bit of running in / tuning so I’ll be able to notice if anything is different and then report back. My thinking is that it fell off the old exhaust when the previous owner was replacing it as that’s the only place I can see them being used.

ok, yeah, probably came off the muffler then.. I just seem to remember the gasket being a lot larger on my Savage25, but it's been a few years. With larger I mean thicker/flat/flange like.. Is the stock muffler on the Savage 4.6 a two parter ?

Yeah, guessing it's the one that goes between the stock composite pipe halves:

Thanks for the reply buddy, helps settle my nerves a bit.

Shes running as she should and the engine is now 'broken in' so I'll just keep an eye on it for a few more sessions then forget it even fell off haha
