Hey guys, I have a buddy who's coming home from his 3rd tour in Iraq. He's a fellow Savage Owner and right before his reserve unit was activated and shipped off to Iraq he was in the process of painting a body for his Savage, Paying tribute to all US Marines.. Does anyone know someone that can paint the body for me? I've looked but to no avail. I found a local guys but his work was crappy. I really want to surprise him with a new body, he's going to need a lot or rest and relaxation, He's got big time PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) so i figured this would be a nice gesture.

Anyone know someone who can paint these bodies really good please forward the info, greatly appreciated.

Cris

a fellow member here named vintage tone has custom painted a body for me just waiting to recieve it and he does very nice work, would imagine he could come up with something awsome for ya!!

Out of people from the forum here I think Vintage Tone has probably done the best custom work I've seen. I've got a guy in Santa Rosa, CA that I'm gonna ask to do my next couple lids. I know for a fact he does killer realistic fire but I don't know about other graphics.

Hey guys, Vintage got a hold of me. We're going to talk later on and come up with some Ideas, As soon as it's done i will get the Savage from my buddy's family and slap the body on it, Take some pics and i'll post them. Thanks to everyone, coming from someone who's been in his shoes this will be a great gesture. I'll be sure it has the forum logo on there somewhere.

I love when this place pulls together like one big family

Just got off the phone with Mr. Vintage Tone, we threw some ideas and he's going to get working on it soon.. I promise to post the pics as soon as i get them. I can't be happier with the help, "Vintage" is a real stand up guy!!!

hey guys ty for the kind words.
It will mean a lot to me to do this and it s going to be a Cuda :)
I just ordered two clear ones and the guy has been working on a real one with his dad for years so ... I guess it was an easy pick !
I d make a step by step of the progress and post it here.
I don t get into politics, i don t get into why should both troops and civilians should pay the ultimate price in conflicts at all but there s one line that always stroke me as true as can be:
" If you don t stand behind your troops, feel free to go stand in front of them"
Looking forward to get it started !
ty again for all the kind words'

+2 I love MOPAR and the MARINES...'BULLDOGS"

Put one on the lid somewhere They are the mascot for the marines it would fit perfect

Cris -

Sorry your bud needs his R&R, but glad he is headed home!

Want something really cool to do for him? Call your local fire dept and ask them for an escort. Guy here in town, not a cop, or a fireman, just your average citizen (well above average for serving!). Philly airport is about 45 mins away - we had a police escort from the airport to town, once he hit the town line, he got a full escort home, police cars, firetrucks, the works.

PM me if you want some help pulling it together!

Hey Shaun, from my personal experience it sucks!!! You do so much to "fight for your country" and then once you're out no one helps you out with anything, Veterans Affairs is a big joke!!!

Anyhow, i got the Cuda this morning, hopefully i can take decent pics and post them either tonight or in the morning, it's beautiful and the detail work is beyond what i expected. I know the pics won't do it justice!!

Word combat changes you forever, scars inside are even deeper that the ones outside. Like i said many times, i don t do politics but I feel for anyone who s been there and back. It s not a matter of right and wrong but a matter of human beings killing other human beings and trust me, no matter how hard you try to comvince yourself that it was the right thing to do, it always leaves a scar that will never fully heal and nightmares that will follow you to the grave.
It also creates a true bond and boils down to the essence of friendship and companionship tho, putting your life on the line for someone you don t know and will probly never meet again but that needs you to do so and who would do the same thing for you. No matter what country, corp and branche of the military, that is the true bond of any combat vet and that is stonger than can never be broken. One of the hardest thing to accept witnessing the war is that it is conducted by humans, not aliens not demons but human beings like you and me, no matter if you re in close quarter down to a dagger or a shovel to save your life or pressing a button to launch a missle 180 miles off the coast, at the end of the day, it s always human beings behind the toys and tools and that s the hardest thing to accept. Witnessing what we are capable of doing in the worse and best of humanity all condensed and mixed up together over a short period of time during which every split of a second matters.
Anyways ! Sorry for the boring lines lol !
Here are some pics of the making of, some asked how this and that was done on it , i might turn it into another tutorial actualy , i wish i had a pro camera !!! I will for the next one I bought one for my GF s Xmas :D
