i want to know what you guys think is the best motor for the savage. i am looking for long life and good idle, when you get done with those two keeping the wheels pointed up is always nice. And is the 5.9 as bad as i have heard, it seems to have good power/reliability early in its life but is done within 6 months.

well, ppl here recommends picco p3 or LRP z28, its the best 2 u can get with a good budget

other u might concern is RB 528tm or novarossi but it costs almost double the price of the above engine

5.9 is agreat mill once its break in

The picco P3 .28 is a great engine if you are a good tuner, if your looking for something that tunes easy, the LRP spec 3 .28 would be the next choice. Both are great but the picco would last longer then the lrp.

Everything I have heard and seen make me believe the 5.9 is way over rated, sorry.

As purenitro said, Picco, but only if you are a good tuner. The carbs are very responsive and don't take kindly to the tuning styles of most inexperienced people. As well as lasting longer, the Picco will be a better performer. My Piccos both have pretty conservative crank timing, but in my experience will still outperform an LRP by a fair margin. If you really want it to scream, send it to purenitro and have him modify it.

I have Mixed feelings about the 5.9, it is a very tough motor i have abused mine pretty bad, it is still running, i am not a fan of the powerband...

i have never had a picco but i know the name. i did however have an lrp .28 3 spec in a dtx warhead. i am not sure what did it in, the bad fuel or if it just wore out. it never really got good power which was surprising from what i have seen and read. i am not sure if i want to get another one. if you guys say you never had that trouble i might get another one. i do know it never failed to start every time. I do need an engine that performs well in a hhh climate (hot-Hazey-Humid) i live in North east NC and the summers can be very humid. sometimes this is bad for tuning, will the picco suffer?

i would agree with everyone above the picco's are really nice and you cant go wrong with the lrp and i've heard good things about the surefire 32r apparently it has loads of power and tunes well!!! i have been running a xtm 457 pro truck engine lol the power of it is insane, i cant keep the front down. its actually the twin to the lrp, the specs are the same and they look pretty much identical and have the same "internals" so theres alot of choices out there!!
