Well technology has lured me away from nitro but I love the Savage so brushless was my only option.

Seems simple enough. Rip out the nitro and bolt in the brushless gear. Easy.

The Savage. Last day as a nitro.

First the strip down. Rebuilt diffs and cleaned.

Second gear box lock.

Don't need this any more. Now locked in second.

The Savage now a complete roller. No surprises.

The motor finally arrived from HK today!

Specs.
1600kv Brushless Inrunner
Kv: 1600RPM/V
Weight: 557g
Shaft: 6mm
Size: 77x45mm
Voltage: 36v
Highest rated power: 3528W

Just have to shoe horn it in there. Bigger in real life than with ruler.lol

Also have to get a 6mm pinion as I had ordered a 5mm.:duh:

Not light either!

Plenty of room now. Just have to reinforce to compensate what has been removed.

Waiting on Flux battery boxes and a pinion.

Not to sure of size. 14T? Running a 47T spur.

Will keep this updated as I make progress. :jamout:

nice job I'm debating on converting my carbon truck or go ahead and build the flux i have sittin here my-self lol but keep up the good work note the fab tips you are doing to help other members built a budget flux thnx.

Been awhile since I've been around here so here's the progress so far.

Flux battery boxes arrived but were a little big for my liking.

So cut and shut.

Next was the motor mount pinion and spur. Managed to get a 20T pinion and run a 43T spur.
Very tight!

Then onto the electrics. No trouble here. Moved the ESC to the rear. Just easier there.
Also added a wheelie bar. Reckon I'll need it!

And the beast ready for testing.

Has been a slow build but I wasn't in a hurry and every time I had a few
spare minutes I disappear into the hobby room.

Pretty happy with the result but tomorrow is testing day.............

Weighed the beast too. Comes in at 6.540Kg or 14.4 pounds!

I didn't weigh the savage X before the conversion so how much weight has she put on?

First spin was with a 20T pinion and 43T spur. Very quick but not not really what I'm after. Needs to be over 15mph to run smooth.

Changed spur to a 47T and lucked it. Perfect for what I want. On my 2nd plastic
spur now. Lucky I have backup. Steel spur on the way.

This is by far the best Savage I've ever owned.

Savage cost me $200 a few years back as a running nitro.
Rest of the parts required for the conversion came in under $200.

So for $400 I have a one of a kind Brushless Savage and am a happy middle aged boy.

I just did the exact same conversion as you did recently. I was wondering how you locked the tranny in second gear? I'm waiting for the Flux single speed to come in now and finish my conversion? Great build man...any double backflips yet? hahaha
