Hey, I'm feeling a little withdrawal from computer gaming and all that. So I've decided to sell the laptop and build a gaming desktop from the money I get from this and maybe a little more.

CPU- AMD Phenom 9850 Quad core- $239.99
Motherboard- Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe GR- $149.99
RAM- OCZ SLI-Ready Edition (2 x 1024mb) - $69.99
HDD- Maxtor L01F300 300GB - $69.99
Video- EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS - $259.99
DVD- Sony DRU190A - $29.99
PSU- OCZ GameXStream 700-Watt - $129.99
And the case will be bought locally to avoid overpriced shipping.
Also in the market for an LCD screen too 😛

Total- $949.93 from Tiger-Direct without shipping

This should be a momentous contender for a few years running, with maybe a new graphics card every few years, but no biggie.

I'll post some pics and such of how it goes, but gotta sell the laptop first!

Here's the link to it's craigslist if anyone's interested:

Wish me luck!

That's a nice motherboard, but I really don't want to switch to Intel, I'm almost solidly resolute against it. I've never had luck with them, and I even had a C2D for a while, before it kept overheating and had a meltdown, without me even overclocking it. If there's a motherboard like that with ddr3, with AMD support, than it's a definate.

Sounds great man. I'm running a Intel Q6600, 4GB of ram in sticks, and it is working flawless for me, sorry to hear you have had bad luck. I just ordered from Tiger Direct a EVGA 9800GTX Superclocked, and a new Case and PSU from Newegg, I was only charged 9.99 shipping for this case, 3 day business.

I only got a Thermaltake 600w PSU though. I cant wait to see how my computer performs, its based off a HP m8000n which is a BAMF. Lets have a 3Dmark06 score competition! lol. My stuff will be here tomorrow.

I run intel right now, its 2 years old so its only 3.06ghz but works great for me. For some reason I have been an intel fan, and for graphics I like the nVidia 8800...

With better parts, I can get a total of 957.43 at newegg with shipping.
looks like i found a new supplier 😛
