Wife got a gallon of O'Donnell rtr 30% at hobby shop, It was like 55 dollars and its almost gone. I see alot of talk about other brands such as bones, sidewinder etc but bones is to expensive with shipping unless you order 100$ worth. So on ebay There's 3 brands in 30 to 40$ range for a gallon with free shipping. Torco, s&w , and redmax. Which of the 3 is best or should I stay away from those?

In my prime, I'd burn through 3-4 gallons a year, that was when I had 2 smallblocks (dynamite .15 and traxxas 2.5). Last year I burned 2 gallons and I don't feel like I ran that often... guess when all you drive are big blocks... you go through it faster.

Going with lower nitro content will cut the bill some. I only run 25%, but usually have to buy a gallon of 20% and 30%, then mix them 50/50 in spare bottles. The last 2 bottles I bought were odonnells because it's all my LHS had in stock that wasn't airplane or heli fuel.

Byrons 2500 race blend is my favorite. I've run many brands, but it's always been the best for me.

They had byrons at shop where I bought it but it's about 40 min ride one way. I ask guy about byrons and he sold me the traxxas and said it was better. I had read alot of people liked it so was surprised. Traxxas May have been for break in. Or he made more money off of it. I was just thinking abt ordering the torco on ebay because it's easy to do

A buddy of mine ran top fuel once. It was seriously oily. I never ran it. He didn't either after the gallon was gone. Made a mess and tuned to a narrow window to get decent power. Pretty sure it was 20%. I was running trinity fuel in small blocks at the time. He switched to odonnel because when it burned, the exhaust smelled like gun powder. He liked things for weird reasons sometimes, but he wasn't wrong. Odonnel had a different smell when it burns than the other 3 or 4 brand I've ran.

I ran wildcat fuel for a while too with 16% oil/20% nitro. I was new and the extra oil sounded like a good idea. Plus, the fuel was cheaper than others at the time. I tried dynamite blue thunder then too. Turned my engine internals blue like a smurf. I ended up running trinity MHP 20% for a long time until I got my first LRP28. The manual suggested 25% and the only 25% my LHS had was byrons, so I tried it. Then I ran it in my small blocks and they ran well too, so I just continued to run byrons 25% in everything.

The last time I ran trinity, it was the MHP 20% as I ran out of fuel and a buddy let me use a few tanks of his to finish off the day. That was after running byrons 25%. Was a night and day difference in my LRP28. Just ran awful on the stuff. Could have been the nitro content or the day, but I won't buy that stuff again as I have LRP28's in 3 of my trucks! lol

Looks like Torco makes 1:1 racing fuel too. Can't be that bad of a brand to not give it a try at least.
