so what if you don't have bigbores and you are gonna buy either plastic or aluminum... would it be the same thing, leaning towards the plastic... or did you say that mostly because he already has plastic? If the aluminum ones had threaded bodies that would help them in my opinion, but without, is there really much diff between the two? Just wondering, may be something I do soon.

Good question. Ive run only the alum, theyre great. Mickey runs the plastic and loves them.

i don't see why the aluminum would be any better than the plastic (unless you run the plastic in extreme cold maybe).

i only mention keeping the plastic caz he already has them & they are in good working order; but i have no idea which would be better.

i agree on the threaded bodies.

Well I had a shock cap break off my alloy BBs last race. Thankfully the cap off the plastic BBs I keep for field spares was a direct fit.

Got a set of alloy HF caps on order now.

Savage Suspension Setup, XL Axle, TCS ESC Plate etc

Hi all,
Received few stuffs on mail.
* HD Spur

* XL Axle
* TCS ESC Plate
* TCS ESC plate Mount
* HPI Sway Bar Set

I am gonna mount my ESC behind the motor using the below items:
I thought the ESC plate was aluminum coz the tcs website has alu esc plate shown on their website. But its actually black Plastic. Just need to peel off the sticker.

The XL Axle certainly will make my truck wider.

The ESC was successfully mounted behind the motor.

The Sway bar also successfully installed

Next day i received my HPI Savage Suspension Conversion Set. It certainly looked expensive as it came in a nice Box.

Installing this suspension conversion set was a bit headache. Had to shave off some plastic in order fit the alu parts. This took such a long time as i did not have a proper shaving tool.
Anyway the outcome was great..... and it better handle well.

Flux.... after everything was installed.

I have a problem guys. See if anyone can help me.
The upper arm turnbuckle and shock spring touches each other on the rear. I am not too sure whether this is normal. I followed the instructions all well.
What do you guys think?
Note: Only the rear has this problem. The front part is ok (i guess) as it touches little but the shock do move up and down freely. My shocks are the stock Big Bore

I might try to space the upper arm over a little where it connects at the bulkhead end. Fromt he top view I would want my upper arm and dogbone to be perfectly in line. I've never seen the top view of one of these sets installed, but I would imagine that if it is installed right the arm and dogbone would be in line anyway??

If what I said above isn;t possible then I would do this:

Put both hinge pin spacers in front of the axle carrier so that your wheelbase is longer and so the upper arm is parallel with the dogbone (or close anyway), and then move the shock to the forward location (in front of the dog bone).

I think the situation has to be exactly the same on the front of your truck as well though? Try and see if both ends are exactly the same or if you did something a little bit different.

I use Caster spacers and longer screws to move the shocks away from the suspension tower.

Another you can do is mount the lower part of the shock on the outside of the shock arm with a long screw. Please use a locknut and a longer screw if you do this as the plastic will strip if you fail to do so.

btw the other thing you can do is run a slightly shorter wheelbase by moving the spacers on either side of the wheel hub to the back.

Tks guys for your input. I think i will use spacers and move the upper arm towards the centre of the chassis
