Don't know if this belongs here or in the engine tuning section but I finally got my motor going again. I got my OWB and shaft from HPI in the mail and my whole carb was way out of whack. I put everything back to factory specs but could not get it to fire for anything. TIP TO OTHER NEWBIES: TRIPLE CHECK THAT YOU DO NOT TOUCH YOUR MID SPEED NEEDLE. SOME ARE ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE HSN AND SOME ARE ON THE SIDE WITH THE THROTTLE LINKAGE. All carbs are not the same even if they have the same amount of needles (screw adjustments). I guess the placement of the MSN and LSN are swapped sometimes in different carbs. I saw a pic online pointing to what they called the LSN and made an adjustment to the wrong one.bad word. Take it from me you DO NOT want to make the same mistake as me. Anyhow, I got my engine going but it was a major pain and I was begining to wonder if I hadn't just completely ruined the carb by changing the MSN. The only way I could get it to start was to lean the HSN and LSN a bit in an attempt not to flood the motor and just start playing with the MSN because the factory settings were getting me nowhere, they kept flooding the motor. Also it was cold out and I did not pre-heat the motor in anyway and I'm sure that didn't help. It almost started a bunch of times but wouldn't run and finally I got it going once by blipping the throttle and it ran like crap! After major adjusting to all the screws I got it running good AND keeping the temp down. Imagine that. It didn't seem to rev as high as before I had all these problem but I adjusted third gear down a half turn so it would shift and the truck runs like a top now and I was getting temps of low 220's into the mid 230's with airflow and I let it sit and idle while I picked up some tools (30-60 seconds) with no problems and the temp hit 259 but went back down when I started running again. The temps got a little higher with the body on but it was also almost out of fuel and when it ran out of fuel it hit 270 but that was at the end of the tank after idleing for a few seconds. I'll have to do some more testing tomorrow with the body on from a full tank. I think it will be fine as I cut out the entire windshield and used my dremel to make the "grill" into a real grill with rectangular holes. It came out pretty nice and I think it looks more realistic plus when the body is on you don't get any light through the grill which helps the look. I'm stoked right now and am so glad I don't have to send anything away for repairs or adjustment. I'm probably gonna be up first thing in the morning, heck I woke up early today just knowing I had the possibility of running it. Now I know it's running. Can't wait to get out there some more. Props to everybody on this forum for helping me out thus far.:resp::jamout:
