So a few months ago, I decided to get me a part for my car.
To be noted, a $100 part, as far as they were concerned.

I paid for the shipping, through the person I bought it through, and received my parcel.

I later get a bill for $40 (Yeah, 40% of the value), saying there was a brokerage and disbursement fee, as well as taxes on it.

I emailed them a few times, to no avail. They would pass the buck, or just not reply.
After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, I talked to a lady who informed me that they are not allowed to adjust the rates, and for anything between $100-$200 it was going to cost $35 in their fees alone, after you've already paid for shipping.

What a bunch of crooks.

They'll charge the other fella for it, I'm not friends per say, but we are members of a common forum.
Bad rep on there would make it hard for me to sell the extra car parts I have around.

I paid it, sent the seller a harshly worded email, and going to be done with it.

I mainly made this post so people will reconsider the company they will decide to ship items with.

Yes, shipper was in the US, I'm in Canada.

In his thread about the item it says the total price including shipping.

I would have thrown it back and said "oh well, pay up sucka" if I hadn't paid already.

Dang

No duties since it was made in North America.

The charges were brokerage/disbursement fees.

That's about dumb dude. I've never heard of that in my life! I recently had fedex deliver over 1600 bucks worth of PC parts to my house out of California. I'm clear out in the woods of eastern Ohio, I didn't have to pay a dime passed the $37 insured shipping charge. That's really dumb. There's isn't a single part on any RC that weighed in more than my 75lb combined shipping box... Not to mention the 30lbs for the case and power supply!

UPS UPS U P S!!!

Can you guys tell I'm partial? Of course I guess maybe that just might have something to do with the fact that I work there. Gotta run tonight, but I'll be happy to share some HORRIBLE experiences I've had with FedEx and DHL when I get a few minutes.

The best luck I've had was with government postal services. USPS and Can Post has served me well.

I shipped with UPS before, and never had a problem with them.

The reason for brokerage and disbursement fees is for taking it across the border and paying the fees upfront on my behalf, so anything inside of your own country wouldn't be subject to these fees.

From what I heard, FedEx and DHL are the worst, so I'll stay away from them forever.

I had this occur once when I shipped something to canada (from USA). It must be something between them when stuff is shipped. Fedex is bad, but by far DHL is the worst shipping service I have ever used.

I think this may be an issue with Canada and US wise because I once had an item shipped to me from Canada via UPS. It was a gift from someone in Canada and they paid all of the shipping fees. I received the package and days later I get a bill form them for fees and/or tariff's taxes or something like that.
I never did pay it lol jeeze it was a gift and I got the package...

I've used ups to ship to canada. $20 insured value of $200. No problems. In your case I would think that whoever decided to use Fedex should be responsible for the charges. I would have told fedex to get screwed.

yea that stupid. i personally use UPS.....i send have the frequent shipper discount. good stuff with as much as i sell on ebay..... don't really deal with FedX like that because i have had problems with them.

Just got an email from seller saying FedEx doesn't have a record of it being paid.
I gave him the confirmation number, and see the transaction recorded on my credit card.

I'm a mm from telling him to get bent, and call the IRS on his little money making operation.

man...i'm a VET..... i can find em.............bout to go to my old dayz!!!!!!
