OK, I have a Savage XL and was hoping I could get some suggestions on what fail safes work well for you guys. Also my radio does not protect against low voltage and my throttle return spring is not working that great. It either does not have enough pull to close the carb all the way or it doesn't allow the carb to open all the way. I'd like to get away from using the return spring all together if but I notice that my truck battery just gets less responsive rather than going completely dead. I'm afraid that the low battery will not kick in the fail safe and the carb will only close half way because of the spring and I still may get a runaway. Should I just adjust the spring a little tighter and leave it just in case, until I get a radio that has a built-in voltage fail safe? Any help and opinions are appreciated!

imo you should still use a throttle return spring in case your linkage breaks off. I use a latex rubber band, you can get a whole bag of them for about 2.50 in all different sizes. if you have a weak throttle servo just stretch the band a bit to loosen it and use it definitely. I used an ofna micro fail safe for a while and didn't like it, it caused my thr servo to glitch randomly. if you want it pm me ill send it to you real cheap. only used it for about 15 minutes and its already programmed

I use the OFNA micro fail safe. Fits anywhere inside and outside the radio box, and is easy to use and adjust. Best fail safe I have used yet.

Even though you're using a fail safe, don't forget the return spring! I just had this problem. My servo disconnected from the fail safe and there was nothing to pull my carb back. I saw this even though I did have a return spring, but it was worn out.

Yeah I didn't think about the linkage coming completely off LOL! I guess I'll just tighten it a little and deal with the fact that my carb doesn't quite open all the way. It probably won't affect my performance anyway, it's a small amount. Also having the spring will help if I just have low voltage and my servo gets weak. Thanks for the suggestions.

i use the durtrax one its really small works great with speky radio and its got short leads to fit snug in my box has about a 30sec set up and its all set to work as a signal and voltage.

Ok, sweet I called the hobby store yesterday and he said all he had in stock was a duratrax one for around $25. Does that sound like the same one you have? If so I think I'll go get it, I like the fact that it could be set up for signal loss and low voltage since I'm a little more worried about the low voltage thing since I don't have a battery indicator on my truck yet.
