I was wondering if any has used the carb for the F4.6 on a K4.6 motor to elimante the mid range needle? From what i read they have the same outter throat size. Just thought i would see if anyone else has tried this and how it ran afterwards. :dunno:

just take a rubber sticky tape and glue over the midrange needle as you wont be messing with it anyway

just make sure it is flush with the carb body before

any extremely sticky tape should do

it holds the needle so it wont move on its own and also seals it so it will be sealed

I have read alot about how people just seal them up, but my problem is that it does not run right if it is flush. Long story.....short i had to send my motor back to hpi before it was completely broken in because it was running extremly hot and erratic idle.
I inspected the motor and put new o-rings in it like they said to try before i sent it in. While installing new o-rings I noticed a crack in carb housing. So when i got my motor back I noticed that the mid range needle was not flush? Hmmm, so i called hpi and asked what the verdict was because they didn't leave a note or anything in the box. They said they replaced the carb and finished breaking it in and tuned it. I asked about why the mid range needle was not flush and he replied that some times they need to be adjusted too. Mine is 3 turns out from flush.

So thats why i asked if anyone ever tried a F4.6 carb on a K4.6.
I'm tired of adjusting 3 needles.

i just know the one fom f4.1 wont fit as it has smaller neck

but if you have the f4.6 carb then you should just try it out

carb from sts 30 should fit and from wasp .28 but I'm not sure if these carbs would be a good idea

i think you should just get a new carb for k4.6 as that one should be fine and you just keep the middle one flush and then you just have two needles to think about

the carb from a f block is smaller than a k block. by almost 1mm if i do remember correctly. you may be able to RTV it in place, thus sealing it and any possible air leaks (sorry bank) or put a drop of super glue around the outside of the housing on the screw to hold it in place.

OK, my mistake i was not paying attention to inlet and outlet sizes on towers website. You are right the bottom throat is to small (13mm) compared to the K4.6's (15mm). :duh:

What i was looking for is a carb without the mid range needle that will fit a K4.6.
For some reason mine needs tuned every now and then. :dunno:
