I've put my truck away for the winter and am getting ready to get it back out again. I had trouble last year of it flipping over in corners and flipping over backwards. I've widened it out with wider wheels and tires, and am wanting to extend it. Since I've been away from it for about 5 months now, What do I need to extend my Savage X 4.6. I know extended TVP's but what shafts do I need and where do I find them. The only thing I can find is for the new 5.9 XL. What do I need other than the TVP's. Do I need a bigger body.

their are all kinds of ext lcg tvps and kits out their you need to tell us what you do like race or bash or both and what kind of money you want to drop on a set. so let us know and we will help you out

A lot of guys have the FLM extended lcg tvps. they run 60 and come with the extended center drive shaft. No matter what you get you should always get the center skid with it to protect your underside. IRC makes a similar kit with a different look, I believe the flm have more options in the ways of custom mounting positions for servos, tanks, ect.

I have the RPM center skid plate. Will it work with the new extended TVP's or will I have to get an extended skid plate. Will my stock HPI roto start work with the longer TVP's or will I have to get some kind of longer shaft. Thanks alot.

No the rpm skid plate will not work, not sure about the roto start..Check out SMF they carry the FLM extended TVP's here is the link..http://storefront.smfstore.com/

i have the HPI XL TVPs and the kit comes with the TVP plates, Extended dogbone and new engine plate. All you need to extend it for 75.00 which is awesome but maybe not the strongest material. with that being said.,...atleast it gets you where you wanna be for cheap!! i love it and plan on keeping it for now unless i see something that blows me away?

yeah, looks like a good deal. can you still do some wheelies with the truck, my biggest problem is it'll stand straight up and tear the back of the body up. I put a wheelie bar on it and a new body and lasted 2 passes and done it again.

With extended chassis, there is the option to do a mid tank (see the section called mid tank builds.) Now, while this might seem daunting, it is quite straightforward. IRC and FLM Make some nice mid tank kits. Basically the fuel tank goes where the reciever box is (stock tank isn't usually used...) and imo makes the trucks' balence a lot better. Also, it's not on the outside of the truck and liable to take a pounding!! And if you run a hump pack, this is usually put on the front shock tower, and again-should help to keep the front end down. With regard to rotaostarts, Most Extended tvp's are lcg (or low cevtre of gravity) and the rotostart wand doesn't fit to the plate on the back of the engine in the same way, but going in at an angle and a bit of jiggling and it should be golden. All the best bud.

Go with the FLM extended TVP's or the IRC extended ones. I don't care for HPI's tvp's...I tend to bend them quite easily. I have had the FLM's for a few months now, actually on my 2nd set. The first set I got was just the LCG (not extended) and on the first tank I had a runaway, hit a tree at WOT! Didn't bend them at all but for the few minutes I had on them I didn't care for the handleing so I sold them and got the extended FLM's. When I went the extended FLM route I also went ahead and got the stuff to do a midtank setup. Ever since I went FLM and extended + midtank I will never go back to regular tvp's.

With the extended TVP's and LCG does it fly pretty flat. I don't want something I'm going to have to throttle and brake alot in mid air to control. With a mid tank mod, What tank do I have to get. I haven't had any trouble with my tank except it tends to run lean at half tank to empty.

I am using the same setup as above in MaxBasher's post. It all depends on the jump and your shock setup, ect. On mine I can hit all the jumps at my track and just stay on the throttle a little bit then let off right before it lands so I don't mess up diffs.

I also run a pull-start........to use a roto-start I believe you will need a longer shaft, possibly the one that comes with the XL will work? I believe that is the right one for the XL.
