hey all, After watching all the great stickies on engine sealing I thought I'd soap test my 5.9. Its only 2 months old and I had bubbles coming from everywhere!!!
I re-sealed the backplate, re-sealed the carb neck and pinchbolts and noticed some leaks from the lsn.
My question is, the bubbles aren't coming from the needle end but from the base of the rubber over the slider. Is this coming from the lsn, then into the boot? Or is it a leak from where the boot is attached to the carb?

I see, so I'm assuming it wouldn't affect the trucks ability to hold tune? (being a small small leak) Should a person seal around it anyway to try to stop it?

The slide to carb connection has a tendency to leak on most engines. Being 2 metal surfaces, you wouldn't expect a perfect seal. The rubber boot is supposed to provide a seal, but it can also leak. You can seal it by applying threebond 1211 or RTV silicone to the surfaces it is designed to seat upon.
