I decided to go with the hellfire tank for my mid tank build and after a few attempts at mounting it I decided that I did not want to use long screws to bolt it in place. the reason for this being is that it becomes a pain to remove the tank again once its screwed in. My alternative was to use AE 7319 Body Posts. These were originally used on the rc10t and rc10gt trucks. I own several of these trucks and so naturally I had plenty to spare. However if you want to pick them up you can get them for under $1.45 currently on towerhobbies! I only needed to put a spacer and dremel the ridge off of them to make them work. Here are some install pictures.

Dremel or File off the ridge near the top of the post.

Use mini body clips to mount the tank. I added zip tie strips to make life easier.

Installed. 🙂

The servo will mount in the stock location, I just have it out because i was ordering a new one. It was on back-order and then found out it is no longer going to be carried by tower... Looking for a new servo now.

Great work, can you please post some picts when you have the steering servo in place. This is a great looking project and a great idea with the body posts.

Here is my almighty high torque steering servo.

Just kidding 😛

Okay, so this is not the real thing but I had several stock servo's laying around so I bolted one up really quick and snapped some pictures to show the clearance. The servo fits in the slot next to the tank with absolutely no contact. The linkage mounts below would be the same as stock accept with a horn instead of a servo saver.
