Can anyone tell me themajor difference between the two in noob terms? Is the DX3R worth the extra $?

To really answer your question i would go with the DX3s I'm not sure about you but i don't think you will ever own 30 different vehicles, and it's a reasonable price for an amazing radio ;P

Some places sell the DX3s for 250, 270, 260 lowest iv seen was 200 off the bay, 220 at a hobby shop about 7 hours away from me.
But some thing like this i would put the extra 50 into it so i know it's legit and never used ..
