What is the dumbest thing you have ever seen anyone do.

You have to have seen them do it live and in person for it to count.

I'd have to say that my first year in automotive. Was an older chevy truck and the brakes weren't workin, didn't have any fluid. Kid thought he was gonna be funny and start it up. Well the truck didn't have a safety switch or anything and it started up in gear. Plowed through the desks and stopped when it hit the teachers office/wall.

lmao parker mine is the same kinda thing. tech i was working with does a brake job, hops into the car puts it in what he thinks is reverse and hits the gas. needless to say the car was on his hoist in neutral and he put it in drive. crushed his 2 week old mactools tool box and the top half of it took out the hood and a fender lol. made one heck of a racket with all the wrenches flying everywhere

I work in accounting, and found that we had accidentally overpaid one of our customers. I asked one of my clerks to call the customer and explain, so that we could make the correct payment.

My clerk didn't want to make the call because it was a little embarrassing, but he wanted to fix the account, so he wrote the customer a check with a negative dollar amount in it, and asked me to sign it....great thinking!!!

I'm a bike shop manager, some of the things the new mechanics do are laughable.
The worst/dumbest one?-I asked one of our mechanics to adjust the brakes on a bike(they were squeaking),went back 5 minutes later & hes spraying oil on the brake blocks saying that thats how you get them to stop squeaking 🙁 .Saying that, the dumbest thing ive probably done was to open a lift door before it reached its floor, causing it to stop dead & then had to be cranked by hand for 3 hours to get me out.Very dumb, but still makes me laugh 🙂.

Back when I was driving flatbed and hauling TimberTech plastic decking, I watched a couple of loaders screwing around on lifts, racing down the aisle, and one of them rammed an I-beam column at nearly top speed. The forks went right on either side of the column, so it nailed the column right on the rack, HARD. What made it really funny was the KUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG it made when it hit, and the dust and bird crap drifting down from the ceiling all the way across the warehouse and even across the factory floor on the far end of the building...the lift was pretty much fine aside from the broken dashboard where his knee hit it, and the blood on the windshield where he slammed into it nose first.(bloody nose, hella swollen, but not broken)

the dumbest thing i have done i think is.. i used to drive forklift at a recycling plant and was outdoors with it alot and i raced up a ramp full blast so i didnt get stuck, went to stop and slid which put the forks right through the wall, the guys still call me "crash" lmao

I ride sports bike and one night leaving the hang out my buddy to his new girlfriend for a ride with us, her friends followed in a car, my buddy did a whillie and while he was up on one wheel doing about 80mph the dumb @ss girl decided to wave to her friends... ended up with 65% of her body with road rash, didnt want to wear a jacket or gloves b/c it didn't match her outfit.. LMAO!! this was about 10 yrs ago and everytime we tell the story we just bust out laughing.. i know it sucks for her but what was she thinkg...

For me two mechanic stories. I worked as a mechanic for a few years, and had stayed late one night to do a friend a favor and do a 4-wheel alignment on his car. Long story short, I forgot to set the cars brakes, and it was 4 feet in the air on a platform lift when it decided to roll. Rolled the front wheels off the lift, but caught on the frame, just missed the alignment machine by MAYBE 3" (like $10,000 or something like that).

The other was, same shop different mechanic. Working on an old station wagon, they left the rear gate swung open while putting it up on the lift, the rear window hit the bay door, and blew the rear window out 🙂
