Ever get done racing or bashing and have a mess of dirt all over your rear drive shafts? You can thank your front tires and 4WD for this. One of the things I had done on previous trucks is cut some lexan to put over the rear a arms. Lots of pros do this as well. It's a very simple mod that weighs next to nothing and will help keep most of the dirt off of your drive shafts and outdrives. These are cut out of moderately thick lexan. Same stuff your bodies are made out of, so if you notice you have alot of excess lexan after painting a new body (especially behind the rear end). Now you might have a use for it. make sure to cut an angle near the chassis to suit your suspension travel.

These are my first attempt for this truck and I may make some changes depending on where the dirt collects. On most 4wd's it is near the inside right by the diffs where your tires will throw dirt the most. So far the drive cups near my hubs have stayed pretty clean before this mod.

nice mod. seems you might catch a bit of air resistance on those bad boys

I don't know about air resistance but I get what you mean. From what I understand wind doesn't really come into play until your past 45mph or so. Not likely to see any limitations on the track or bashing around. If anything it will help out your wing and push your rear end down even harder for more traction 🙂

I agree they really wont affect anything. I have seen them for many buggys and truggys. Often thought about making some for my Truggy and buggy from Carbon Fiber.

also help by keeping the weight down since the dirt/mud has less grooves to get caught in, might be a good idea to put a piece on the underside of the a arms aswell.

Yep, cleaner is faster 🙂. And I might just have to try that tomarrow.

I tried that but didn't like how I had to angle them at the chassis end. So I made some that attach at the TVP. I made them angle backwards too so they deflect stuff rather than just stop it:

I agree they look good man. I have been running a set on my race truck for a while. The sticky clay mix they use on the tracks around here it gets stuck on everything.

Update:

Here is an update, I have put a few tanks of these in the dirty snow and gravel behind my house. And I will post a few pictures of the result.

Here is the rather clean a-arm not long after the run.

Here is the exhaust-side shield. As you can see it is covered in both exhaust oils and some mud.

Here is after a spray of simple green and a paper towel 🙂

Enjoy the results.
