Was wondering if it is possible to use the hellfire pinion and bevel gears on our savage trucks? The gear ration is much quicker (4.20) vs (3.30)..

Has anyone tried to accomplish this or am I dreaming?

I'm thinking an XL with 4.20 diffs and only first gear on the tranny would make it FAST, FAST on a short course.. Am I wrong?
I know the bevel gear will fit our diff case because they use the same gasket. The only problem would be the pinion gear, as a hole would need to be drilled in it to allow for the shaft screw.

Opinions?
 
Imo stick with the bp diffs and go up on CB/pinion. When i went bl, the stock diffs went in 2 packs even after being shimmed.

agreed stick with the BP diffs and change gearing in the spur/CB or pinion

I run my nitro truck with a high speed flux trans with BP diffs and 45/13 spur/CB on a picco .26
 
All a flux tanny is, is a two speed without second gear. Same tooth count.

After thinking a little harder, 4.20 would probably be way to much for our trannies to handle. Dunno! But I think I will try the 45/13 spur and cb.
 
The high speed flux gear changes it to the same gear ratio as second gear in a two speed.
