mornin,

was curious what y'all thought of a custom spur gear and slipper plate to do away with the shoddy clutch system. basically, need a slipper plate with nipples on both sides, and then to modify the spur so the nipples fit into the spur as they do in the slipper clutch hub. this would effectively LOCK the clutch assembly.

to take it a step further, albeit it will be a little thicker and more engineering, incorporate springs into the slipper plate (i.e. sprung clutch disk on a real car). still make it lock the spur and clutch hub, but have some heavy springs absorb some of the shock. you sill need two slipper plates and possibly a longer drive shaft, but it would definitely be neat and effective. patent it and make cash of the licensing, since others will follow suit. makes for a more reliable means of getting the monstrous torque to the ground, but takes a little of the edge off the drive train.

thoughts? i'm not proposing i'll be making this stuff, i just like coming up with ideas.

Never had a problem with the stock spur gears or slipper clutch, i use a steel spur now though but i don't plan on locking my slipper anytime soon.

I do believe some people lock their slippers by drilling through the spur/slipper and simply bolting/screwing them together.

oops, i should have mentioned that this would probably only benefit the Flux owners as i don't see how the slipper would hold if it's anything shy of cinched-down-till-my-ears-popped.

as for drilling and locking with a bolt, it seems like it would throw off the balance by quite a margin, no?
