Correct # of head shims??

How many head shims should a K4.6 have? I always thought just one, but when we took my buddy's apart it had 4. We removed 2 and it still ran okay.

Any thoughts?

I believe it has a think one and a thick one, but I could be wrong.

My current k engine has two, but sometimes people add more for break-in purposes. I have never seen four before though. How thick were they?

I didn't measure, but all seemed to be same thickness.

I ran 6 thins in my old AE .15 motor. It ran really good on 6, but lame on anything else but 1. I know my stock F4.6 only has one.

The biggest thing about them that I know is that they can actually decrease compression while resulting in higher displacement. I think it's more of a trade-off if using more or less.
