Cooling head

You may be better off buying a new engine, but you are looking for a cooling head
(part number 1415) for a HPI Nitro Star 21BB engine,
Both the engine and the cooling head have long been discontinued.

HPI lists this cooling head (part number 1458) as a replacement for 1415.

It's not purple, but it is probably your least expensive option.

This isn't purple either, but it fits, and this Golden Horizons product is a much better cooling head than the stock one. But it's also about twice the price of 1458.

You may be able to find a donor engine on the used market, but that Golden Horizons head is what I installed on mine (before I threw the stock cooing head in the trash).

Different sized engine, and I have no idea whether the "bolt" patterns are the same.
It might work it might not.
If you have money to burn, you can buy it and try it out, but I would advise against it.

I can say that cooling heads for other HPI .21 engines can be incompatible.

For example:
Part 111609 - Aluminum Heatsink Head (Black/F3.5 V2)
Replacement Heatsink for the Nitro Star F3.5 V2 Engine.
Must be used with the F3.5 V2 Crankcase #111611

The HPI site has a lot of useful information - it's slow as a snail, but....

I've never seen a .21BB with a black crankcase.

Why are you looking to replace the current cooling head and why is HPI's 1458 not a suitable replacement in your eyes?

If it's simply a matter of color - what will you do if your current engine has to be replaced and you can't find a new one with a purple cooling head?

Yeah I was thinking it’s the 4.6 with it being a black crank case and not the .21BB with the silver.
The previous owner confirmed it it’s the F4.6 engine

I want to replace the cooling head just for cosmetic reasons, I only wanted purple so it’s like for like.
I’m not too bothered if I do get a black one.

Sorry, I misunderstood.
If those pics are your engine and it has a black case yeah, it's a .28.
I was thinking that you were looking at that cooling head in the pics to put on a .21.
My apologies - in our previous conversation, I've been focused on your use of "21" - which it no longer is.
I guess I can't see the forest for the trees...

If you're certain it's an F4.6 that you have, you'll have an easier time finding a purple cooling head.
I don't know if a K4.6 cooling head is interchangeable, but the HPI website might give you that info, or at least nail down which one you have.

Welcome back Gazzman your the very savage guru that’s been needed on here lately! 👍🏻
Hello mate, yer been awhile. Hope your well. Starting to get back int it now, lost total interest in these trucks for a while. Remember why now. The bloody cost LOL. Got the old fleet back out of mothball acouple of weeks back and already cost me around £500 in parts I don't really need. You still got the IRC savage or have you changed it.
