I ran the truck with the BP diffs yesterday and now when I roll it I can hear the gears meshing. Makes a slight clicking sound but there is no resistance at all. Everything spins very freely and works fine. I don't remember hearing it after putting them in, only now after I have ran it once. I'm thinking this isn't right, but has anybody else noticed this from the BP diffs, or had any problems arise from it? Should I just remove a shim and see if that helps?

I put some red & tacky "grease" on the outside of my gears where they mess with the pinon so i hear nothing.. but i do know what you mean.. Did you shim them?

No it was like a really fast clicking, like every tooth in both diffs. I just got done taking one shim out of the ring gear side and greasing both ring gears before putting them in. I don't know which solved the problem for sure but when I checked the play in the diff case, the diff couldn't really move at all, taking that one shim out of the ring gear side (I had two in there) allowed about that much side to side movement (one shim width). I think the ring and pinion were just too tightly meshed. Problem is gone now, the trucks back together and it is super smooth and quiet. Bank mentioned that the BP diffs didn't need as much shimming because of the deep gear mesh but I had already put the truck back together at the time. This was my first time doing diffs so I wasn't sure how much play was acceptable. I pretty much had it shimmed to where there was no play at all, but with these BP diffs you need a couple thousandths of of an inch of play I think. Thanks for the quick responses guys!

check your cup joints they might be worn.. that will cause clilckin

No it wasn't like that, it was like a high speed ratcheting noise, even when I would roll it slowly. It was the gear mesh of the diffs, but I got it taken care of. One less shim on the ring gear side did the trick. Thanks again guys.

we should start getting vids up with sound of these probs. They may help noobs trouble shoot there problem before ripping there truck apart.
