there are some cons also:

the teeth on the pinion are longer and, by design, weaker than the HPI pinions.
they change your gear ratio & you will notice a slower accelleration (even if you regear)
theyre not cheap!

do you have to machine flm bulk heads for this mod?

nope. cen diffs will drop right into flm bulks.

but imo, if your gonna add flm bulkheads you'd be eliminating the 'flex' that a composite bulkhead has so, with proper shimming you'd be better off with X or XL diffs imo.
