hey guys

I'm getting a $%&$$?&?$& frustrating issue with my 4.1 savage X

I'm about to lose faith in it & just convert it to brushless

but before i do that ill see what i can do
to fix my problem

I cannot seem to be able to close the carb enough so it doesn't start like crazy
it cannot idle at all i tried turning the idle screw messing with servo position trim ect doesn't work

Next i cannot brake at all no matter how much i screw the black pin on the spring
it doesn't change nothing

if i push the rod by hand it does brake

I'm very very very confused!!!!!

Just cleaned it same thing happened

Dunno what else to check everything was working fine back then dunno what could change

You think? ,

it's kinda weird because if i push it by hand it does go up to a certain point & brake , but by the controller it just goes maybe half the way

but still tries to brake

yeah i adjusted the trim by closing everything to zero , then putting the servo on the middle

so i can move FULL forward and little down

i just tried adjusting the servo BY HAND by taking it appart and see where it stops spinning to get the center
still do the same thing

I'm gonna take my other servo check if it corrects the problem

just put a futaba servo and i can still push the car i feel a resistance but nothing like ''REALLY BRAKING''

i recall my rs4 had good breaks and forget about those one because if i would run at 60 the little resistance would do squat

dunno what is going on....

it sounds like the discs are finally wearing down to the point of no grip so adjust the plastic piece on the end of the stock linkage and that should help with the issue. and if need be just replace the brakes and which style brakes are you runnin?

eric....

+1 on Eric's comment, plus one more.

If the servo is working anf not applying enough force, it could be your servo arm. If I am right, you have the plastic setup that has a plastic "c" on it that acts sorta like a spring - it can wear out prematurely or just not have enough oomph to do much at all. If this wears too much, the servo power will get absorbed by this and not be transferred to the carb mixer or the brake rod.

BEST way to solve this in my experience is to do the Ofna throttle mod - CLICK HERE - and it will give you a few different things. First off, it will help control the amount of loss you get from the servo to the brake rod/carb mixer, and give you a TON of adjustability that you do not have now. This was the very first mod I ever did (well, Alex did for me actually) and it was prolly one of the ones that had the most noticable impact on the truck.

Give it a shot and let us know how you make out!

hey guys i took the WHOLE CAR DOWN litterally into pieces

CLEANED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION , cleaned the breaks reinstalled everything ,

And still having the problem

Ill try what orcusomega said

next

thanks guys
you are awesome for the replys!!!

love this hobby for that!!😀

guys i seem to have fixed the problem

I just cut half one side maybe of 5mm 8mm of the golden Ring servo holder with a dremel now it leaves me break enough

but now the only problem is my Carb stays too much open ....

Grrrrrr

1 problem brings an other😛

a problem i have with the brakes is the screw likes to back out every now and then meaning the pads can move too much causing poop brakes

There was a kid at the track last Sunday, who was having the same issue, and it was a mixture of all 3 things everyone keeps saying +1 nobody mentioned. First the stock servo horn setup was sticking.. since i use the throttle mod i had a few extras and gave him one, then i noticed it moved a little more but still not enough to engage the brakes, then i checked the 2 screws that hold the brake discs on, they had backed out some, tightened those, brake response was good now, but almost seemed as the servo lacked the power to push the linkage.. after inspecting it again, i notice that the linkage arm connected to the tvps was hard to turn, he over tightened the screw that acts as the piviot point at some point in time, this does not need to be tight, or even snug, the arm must move freely... after these 3 the linkages were moving good, then i could adjust the carb position and braking power...

These were the steps I went through last sunday with a fella and got his situation sorted out
