This is a full 1/8th scale conversion for a nitro savage so it uses all nitro savage parts. A single brushless motor is a lot more efficient then 2 motors and a single motor can be a lot more powerful too if you get a big enough motor. The only thing is that the bigger setups aren't that common and tend to be fairly expensive.

I'm planning on using the Castle Creations Mamba Monster Max when it is released (Castle says next month). It should be coming with a high quality 2200kv motor (licensed neu) which I may run on 6s LiPo. This will give me a max of around 50000rpm :Xfingers:. Just have to make sure it won't run hot though. So yes I'm hoping it will flog the pants off the nitros :stickspank:.

Thanks for the comments guys.

cant wait till its done!!! are you going to make a video???

Videos are so hard to make. My friends and I are pretty good at breaking things before we even get started (head on collision warming up the nitros, wheels falling off). This won't need warm up but I have been meaning to get videos of our trucks for ages and I never seem to get it done. So I won't guarantee anything but I will hopefully get some video. This will take a while to complete still, :Xfingers: Castle release the MMM soon.

Ideally if the motor had a max rpm of around 35000rpm on 6s it would be better as 35k is the top of a nitro motor so gearing is a bit easier.

Also take a look at this. I though this was pretty cool of castle. http://picasaweb.google.com/bernie.wolfard/RCMonsterCastleCreationsTour

lol get a good friend to do it or set up a tripod, or get the neighbor whos like old as the hills and tell them to follow the truck with the camera hahaha, but if they go running after the truck with your camera it wasnt my idea hahaha

Here are some pics with body and wheels. These aren't going to be the wheels for this truck but they look the best out of the wheels I have. I'm thinking a set of wabash 17mm wheels (widest offset 40 series) with big joes will be the go as the max sized wheels look a bit small on such a long truck. The body doesn't fit the best but it will do.

Thanks guys. That body does look a bit mean. The Big Joes should make it look even meaner. It's the J concepts savage illuzion body. Would be a good racer body.

This should be the last update before this beast is finally finished (well at least driveable they are never finished). Here it is Feigao 11xl motor and Neu energy 6s 4900mah battery. Eventually there will be a Mamba Monster joining them together. The Feigao will eventually be replaced by a better quality motor. Most likely Mamba monster motor when they are released with an appropriate KV rating.

Damn that body is sexy! I've been thinking about getting one when I start my FLM savage build. Your pics just sold me on it for sure. Great work bud! For an electric, that thing is smokin!

The body is a tad short for this chassis but the chassis is a fair bit longer then even the extended FLM tvps I think.

Well I got the final piece of the puzzle today :smiliejam:. My Mamba Monster Max arrived. I have to wait till I get home before I can play but it should be good. I'll get some video when I do.

Update: I put the savage together. It took most of the night but all I can say is WOW. I didn't get to see the top speed but the bottom end power is nuts (pitch black outside). If the drive train stays in one piece I'll be very surprised. I will try to get some video of the craziness tomorrow.

Update 2: My friend brought his camera around to get some video before work and of course the camera battery was flat. Didn't miss much though as after about a 1.5 minutes the mamba monster's bec failed. Back to waiting I suppose.

what happen Tim?

what caused the bec to fail.

Known issue with the first batch of Mamba Monsters. Sadly the issue wasn't fully resolved before they repaired mine and sent it back to me. So I have run the car again but once again after less then a minute the bec failed. This issue is being resolved but sadly I am still waiting. The waiting is driving me mad too. I really want to see this truck going a full speed.

So I finally got a working MMM and a camera together at the same time and just put together a quick video. Nothing too special really. The car is quick but not stupidly fast. The bottom end power is the impressive part but this video doesn't show much of that.

Enjoy

You can't really see it too well in the video but the tires were ballooning pretty badly so I have now taped them up. Haven't had a chance to give them a run though.

Best thing I have seen this car do which we sadly didn't get on video was it going down the road nose pointed at the sky with all 4 wheels in the air balancing on the wing and wheely bar. My friend was driving it at the time and we haven't been able to replicate the feat either.
