ya, you can see that this gearbox has the spur gear mounted opposite so it points toward the front of the truck.

ive seen a couple threads with flux's grenading the tranny. its $100 bucks, but says its a direct drop-in/bolt up and i kinda like how the motor mounts up. could be a good solution to that problem.

looks like it would get good air flow. just wondering how protected the motor would be in that location in case you start drivin your truck like a savage.

only thing that concerns me a lil is that the internal gears looks exposed; not encased like the savage.

could be an issue with off road.

but

the picture looks like the spur-gear is much lower in the tvps and the motor sits low too. prob mount your esc direct to the motor plate & get some sweet protection.

anyone use one of these?

I really don't like the way the motor mounts at all...the 2200kv is a heavy motor, and one big hit could easily snap the screws holding it in, and the exposed gears are just begging for a rock or stick to get jammed in there and destroy the whole thing...and god help you if you drop it belly first onto a dirt mound with no skid plate...

I might use this for street, but for the price, I think I'll stick to stock.

thx Ace, you address my 2 biggest concerns. i like the look of the motor mount, but dint know how protected it is there.

Also, a pebble made its way (somehow) into my diff case & mangled a cen diff. can only imagine what would happen to open gears.

i posted here and on another forum about this and still haven't found anyone who has bought & used it, but hopefully someone will chime in.

This Savage is gonna go after HUGE air & run the dirt only so I'm tryin to address as many concerns i can think of.

thx for your input Ace!

Looks interesting, but Id have the same concerns you guys have. Open gears is just asking for it IMO.

All of this being said, it wouldn't be hard to correct the faults mentioned. The mounting can be beefed up by adding a couple slots to hold two more screws(properly radiused), extend the bottom plate across the chassis and close up the holes in the plates. You'd also want to add some kind of brace to make up for not having the chassis support of the motor plate. The plastic gears is the hardest part to correct, unless they're using a standard part with a metal version already available.

i have used this direct drive before, worked realy well even off roading. come to think of it i still have it, lol i don't plan to use it I'm current BL build.

the motor accually sits a little lower than in the first picture in the first post i could throw it in and take a snap shot of it i guess.

i do have a video of it running this is a 3s LiPo and i had to do the video recording my self so your seeing me driving and recording so sorry for the bad video.
