I am so UPSET right now! Highly disappointed with the Flux. I took it for a run for the first time (Brand New out of the box!) in less than 2 minutes the pinion gear fell off of the motor shaft!!! Can you believe this? BRAND NEW out of the factory box and it's faulty! I retighten up the set screw and after a minute of run time, the thing fell off again. I am going to give HPI a call and see what they have to say about this crap! It also ground off part of the tranny box at the bottom.

Sorry, a little ticked off after spending over $900 of this and it won't even hold for a few minutes. Anyone has this issue???

i haven't heard of that but i've never owned one, but what i do know is hpi stands behind there products as a rule and a call to them will likely get the problem solved with no hassles...

i'm pretty sure hpi leaves it un-loctited so you can change it if you want. I wouldn't blame the problem on hpi, grub screws should always be loctited before use. Especially on something with as much torque applied to it as that motor shaft. I'm not blaming you either, but at least now you know. There is really only one way to learn this, by trial and error. Ask a question on this forum and you will most likely get the right answer in a very short amount of time. Don't get discouraged, it is very common for people who haven't had this happen before wonder what is wrong. Put some loctite on that grub screw, let it cure and I am certain your problem goes away completely and you fall in love with that truck. I guess that will bring your total to $905 with the $5 bottle of loctite. Trust me that extra 5 bucks is what is gonna make you extra super duper happy!! All the metal to metal screws in the chassis and such should also be loctited or they will rattle loose after a while. Hope you love it bro, i wish i had the dough for a truck like that.

Have fun with your flux!!!

I have delt with Chris at HPI and the customer service is exceptional they will fix ya up 4 sure.....even some $80,000 vehicles have some minor problem s when new don't let it get to ya....I know how ya feel though just dished out $800 for an lst2 which was doomed from day one out of the box nothing but problems....and crappy customer service from losi....shoulda known better though cause HPI rules!!!lol

This was a major problem with mine, I finally had enough and red loctited that damn thing into place. Now, it don't move at all. Its not" faulty" the Tork 2200kv motor puts out an INSANE amount of torque that puts tremendous stress on the pinion gear and grub screw. Clean it throughly and then put some blue loctite on it and let it sit over night and try again

Yeah go figure. wouldn't you think HPI should loctite it before shipping it out? I just blue loctite it, going to take it out and switch to red instead.

They don't loctite the rtr why that lol... screws have been falling out of hpi rtr cars n trucks for years. tare it down and do all you metal to metal screws. Step one of any hpi RTR.

Not sure about you guys but I know that some loctite that HPI uses on some areas is a PAIN to remove screws. HPI has some really good loctite IMO, but only works if they use it!

I agree and disagree with your thinking. I am a new Flux owner and the same exact thing happened to me. When you get a RTR car that thing should be well... ready to run? It wasn't until after I came home and started reading through forums that I saw this is happening to a lot of people. That being said I can understand that people out there are gonna wanna put the 25t pinion gear on right away and run it like that. Getting thread lock off a pinion gear can be a real P.I.T.A. sometimes. But honestly HPI should have put a notice in the manual and have included a small tube of thread lock with the kit. They know it is a problem and even recommend applying thread lock so they should provide the solution. :duh:

On a side note I also didn't like that they didn't include a wrench to remove the wheels... Other than that the 2 minutes I got out of the car was freaking awesome!
