Brake Adjustment - Savage XL

I think I understand how to adjust the brakes on my XL. The problem is that when they are applied, it also lowers the throttle level to the engine and kills it. Can you guys offer up some suggestions?

If I haven't done so already, welcome to the forum. It is either still running too rich or check your idle screw on the right side of your engine, may need to be turned clockwise so the carb slide doesn't go all the way shut.

ya take off your airfilter and when everything is turned on "radio,truck" there should be about a 1mm gap in the carb when brakes are applied if its right closed adjust idle screw until the gap is approx 1mm this should help!!

I just got my XL and the factory setting on the throttle linkage was not long enough I had to have my throttle trim all the way to one side to get it to run right which didn't allow me to have any adjustment with my throttle trim switch. May not be your problem but something to consider.
